About Jill Buchmore

Growing up in the 80’s, I was surrounded by processed foods and didn’t know about healthy living.  I remember eating Reeces candy bars and Mountain Dew from the high school vending machines.  I experienced a lack of energy, lack of focus, headaches, inability to perform athletically as well as academically.  I was not happy with my appearance.  I was on the swim team and ran track and didn’t understand why I wasn’t more fit.

I graduated high school weighing 150 pounds (I now weigh 120).  I entered college, was living on my own and my health continued to decline.  When my academics and general activity began to suffer, I realized it was time to make a change.  I went to the doctor, and after lots of tests and money spent, I learned I had high cholesterol (about 250).  I was 19 years old, afraid and certainly not wanting to be medicated.  So, I chose to change my lifestyle.  I turned my diet around; cut out sugars, bad fats, processed foods and ate more whole grains, lean meats and learned to love water.  In turn, I had more energy, more focus and my headaches subsided.  My grades improved and I was able to increase my exercise.  I began running, swimming and teaching aerobics.  I lost 30 pounds and my cholesterol went down to 180.  I made a vow to never go back.

Towards the end of my college career, stress and anxiety caught up to me and nearly killed me.  When I was 21-years old, I suffered a perforated ulcer and underwent emergency surgery.  If this condition was not treated I would’ve died within about 8 hours from the stomach acids poisoning my internal organs.  The surgery saved my life and I was given second chance.  This was a huge lesson for me.  Life is fragile.  Life is short.  Since then, I have learned ways to live each day healthy, energetic and I reap the benefits.  I have over 25 years experience working with people, sharing my story and empowering them to make positive changes in their lives.  When you feel the difference, you’ll never go back to your old ways.

With some coaching, resources and tips, anyone can live their best lives, feeling great!  The best way to deal with stress and anxiety is through diet and exercise.  When you feel good about yourself, you can’t help but attract good things to you.  Focusing on your health and wellness brings clarity to your life.  Once you find clarity, everything feels more balanced and it’s amazing how the stress subsides.  Sure, we are all faced with stressful situations now and then.  It’s how you learn to handle those situations which is important.

My husband John and I have been married for over 15 years.  We have two teenage sons, Jake and Leland.  My life is excellent largely because I put focus on the things I want.  I recognize what is important to me and make changes when things don’t seem right.  I feel successful every day.  I am confident and have a high self-esteem.  When we love ourselves, the love from others overflows.  You can do anything you want!  All you need to do is set your intention and believe.

I am originally from Aspen, Colorado and have lived in Telluride, Colorado with my husband and two sons since 1997.  I am a Certified Professional Health and Wellness Coach and received my training from Fowler Wainwright International Institute of Professional Coaching.   I am a licensed teacher and former fitness trainer.  I enjoy running, cycling, hiking, yoga, reading, and spending time with my family.
