About Jan and Live Your Best
My name is Jan Zucker and I’ve been fortunate. I’ve spent my professional life doing what I love: helping people. I have been a certified Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor, as well as a Management Trainer and Human Resource Specialist for a large software company. When my kids were young, I earned my Masters Degree in Counseling Psychology and then worked as a therapist. Each of those experiences lead me to the work I do today as a Life Counselor.
After years of viewing clients from a therapeutic standpoint, where the emphasis was on diagnoses, medications, problems and pasts, I wanted to offer more. I researched Life Coaching and was excited that the priority in the coaching models was on people’s futures, and building action plans with tangible goals that would actually move clients forward in their lives.
I became certified as a Coach, and realized quickly that many of my coaching clients need both kinds of support, counseling and coaching, to achieve and sustain their goals. Sometimes, people need to discuss their pasts and even “sit” with a problem for a short while. They also need to determine how to get around or past these issues, since often they present the obstacles to getting my clients where they really want and deserve to be: living their BEST lives.
Together, my clients and I find the paths (remove the obstacles and roadblocks) and build the roads (create the action plans with measurable and specific goals). I have the skills, experience and education, and intuition to collaborate with my clients and support them at every point along the way, until they reach the ultimate destination: living their best lives.
Jan's Appraoch
First and foremost, it is my responsibility to keep your information confidential. I respectfully and without judgement listen to you profoundly. Profound Listening involves hearing what you say, what you do not say, and how you say it. I listen for themes and patterns so that I am able to deeply and throughly understand your desires, challenges and priorities. Often your true voice emerges from our work, as you explore and prioritize what you really want and need.
My role changes based on you. I encourage, empower, challenge, nudge, suggest, and hold you accountable for what you say you want to accomplish. Sometimes I even tease, I mean we’ve got to have a little fun along the way. : ) I also recognize when you need a breather, and might suggest that we slow down or take smaller steps. The point is this: this is YOUR BEST LIFE we are getting YOU to! It is critical to me that our work is done on your terms, in your way, at your pace, with your true voice calling the shots. I am lucky enough to be a part of your journey, and I need you to know that I love what I do!
